T's New Blog!

Hello All!

Bill here...today we set up a new blog for Tyler, so he can keep everyone up date with all the things going on in his life. I'm not sure how often we'll update the blog; it likely will not be on a daily basis, but we'll be sure to add to it every time something important comes along, or whenever Tyler is feeling like it.

Yesterday Tyler decided that he wanted to go play some golf (rather than continuing to sit on the couch and watch TV), so I met Tyler and Laura out at VB National (formerly TPC Virginia Beach) to play 9-holes. Tyler really didn't care that at 5:30 pm it was still 95 degrees with the humidity about the same. T played pretty good...unfortunately he hasn't had too much practice this summer due to his aching feet.

The course was very wet due to the recent downpours we've had, so the carts were restricted to the cart paths only...not a good thing when you have trouble walking. He made it through 6-holes before his feet gave out. At that time Laura stepped up and took over where Tyler left off (can you say "tag team golf"). Laura went on to par her first two holes...and these were the first two holes she's played all year!
Tyler is home today recovering. You've got to love his attitude...he said that his feet are going to hurt whether he's sitting on the couch or on the golf course, and he's tired of watching TV, so he got up and gave it his best shot. He apologized to me when we got to the 7th tee box for being able to continue...I told him that he didn't have any reason to be apologizing for anything, as I am very proud that he did his best.
We're currently schedule to go to Johns Hopkins on August 20th, for "Grand Rounds" where doctors with various specialties can examine his feet and look at the biopsy results. Their latest thought is that it may be some sort of neurological issue involving the nerve endings in his feet. Laura did take him to see a local orthopedic doctor this past Monday; he didn't have a clue either, but he did take x-rays that came back and didn't show anything. We're currently waiting for our insurance to approve an MRI.
That's all for now! Please keep Tyler in your prayers and feel free to give him a call or send him a card from time to time, as this medical issue is taking it's toll on his overall outlook on life, if you know what I mean.

Bill
